| If you have a cone filter to MAF to T-connector then your setup is fine. Almost with a ton of people on this forum, myself included, this has been proven to be a solid option. I have run both a single intake and duel intake without issue. If the cone filter is spent replace it and focus efforts elsewhere. If you have black smoke sometimes, then it sounds like you’re running rich. Things that come to mind are fuel pressure regulator or anything else fuel related. If injectors are new then that’s ruled out. Also, how are your oxygen sensors? PCV valves and hoses? EGR? I hate to say it but you need to methodically go through all the stuff I’ve listed and make sure it’s in the state you want it to be in. If you really thinks it’s a setup issue then buy a used airbox off eBay and put it in. I saw a listing for $200.
